Getting there
Our part starts on Wednesday morning, January 27, in Kiruna. There are three good ways to get there. Pick one.
1Stockholm, overnight, then fly to Kiruna
This is the way we'd do it. You fly into Stockholm the day before, sleep at the airport, and take one short flight north in the morning. You land in Kiruna rested, in daylight, and we're standing in the arrivals hall.
- Book a flight that lands at Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) on Tuesday, January 26. Any time of day is fine. Don't try to arrive on the 27th and connect straight through: winter flights slip and the connection is tight.
- Sleep at the airport. Three hotels sit inside the terminal itself, a few steps from check-in. Drop your bags and sleep. In the morning you walk to the gate.
- Optional: dinner in the city. Leave your bags at the hotel and take the Arlanda Express train from inside the terminal. It's about 18 minutes to Stockholm Central and runs every 15 minutes. Eat, walk the old town, ride back, sleep.
- Wednesday, January 27: the 08:25 SAS flight to Kiruna. Nonstop, an hour and forty minutes. It lands at 10:05 and we're there.
The three hotels inside Arlanda
Any of the three is right. Prices are what we saw in October 2026 for one night.
The flight north
Book it on its own or as part of your ticket from home; it's the same plane. If you're booking from home, search for a flight all the way to Kiruna (KRN) with a stop in Stockholm, and then look at whether the overnight in Stockholm fits.

If you'd rather not fly the last leg, the night train from Stockholm to Kiruna is a classic, and a lovely way to arrive. You go to sleep in the city and wake up in Lapland. You fly into Stockholm, get yourself to the train station, and the train does the rest.
- Land at Stockholm Arlanda on Tuesday, January 26, by mid-afternoon at the latest. Give yourself a few hours of margin before the train.
- Get to Stockholm Central. The Arlanda Express leaves from inside the terminal and takes about 18 minutes. You're at the station with time for dinner.
- Take the 18:12 night train. It's SJ train 94/98, Stockholm Central to Kiruna, with one change, and it arrives in Kiruna at 09:10 on Wednesday, January 27. Just under 15 hours, most of it asleep.
- Choose how private you want to be. When you book, you pick between a seat, a bed in a shared cabin, or a private cabin for yourself or your group. A bed is worth it.
3Direct flight to Kiruna
Some people would rather do all the flying in one go and skip Stockholm. That works too: land in Kiruna (KRN) on Tuesday, January 26, on whatever route suits you, and sleep in town. The airport is five minutes from the centre and there are taxis outside.
Stay at Scandic Kiruna, the tall hotel in the middle of the new town. The sauna is on the top floor with glass walls, which is exactly where you want to be if the northern lights come out that night.

On the morning of the 27th we pick you up at the hotel, or at the airport if you'd rather wait there. We'll confirm the time once we know everyone's plans; it's around the 10:05 arrival from Stockholm.
Leaving
The Snowcamp trip ends the morning of Sunday, January 31. We'll either take you into Kiruna to catch the first flight, get you to the train station at Björkliden, or drop you somewhere in Kiruna if you'd like to stay a few more days. Here are the details.
AFly home from Kiruna
The morning flight is SAS at 10:40, landing in Stockholm at 12:25. We'll have you at Kiruna airport by 08:40, two hours before, which at this airport is generous. From Stockholm you connect home or stay a night in the city.
On a different flight? We'll drop you anywhere in Kiruna, and a taxi to the airport is a few dollars at any hour. The airport is five minutes from town.
BTake the train from Björkliden
Another great option, and the easiest of all: you book the train from Björkliden, where camp ends, not from Kiruna. We walk you to the little station and you're off. The train and bus combination leaves Björkliden at 10:14 on Sunday and gets into Stockholm Central at 06:20 on Monday morning, February 1. You sleep most of it.
From Stockholm Central the Arlanda Express takes you back to the airport in 18 minutes, so a flight home from Stockholm on the afternoon of February 1 works well.
CStay a few more days
If you'd like to stay a day or two more, you won't regret it. You could stay in town at the Scandic, or find a way out to the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, twenty minutes from Kiruna. And there are plenty of other options too. It's just worth considering if you want a down day or two before heading back. You shouldn't have any problem getting around by train or cab once you've been in the area a bit with us.
